This is the rule when working the principles of 

"Healthy Golf" 

and no amount of practice will change the story! 


As Ben Hogan writes in his book on Page 47, 

golf is a "very pleasant game" and 

does not involve swing angles or positions that run counter to 

the way the body is built to perform best! 


In short, "straining isn't at all necessary" and if anything in your body "hurts" 

-- either at Address or during the swing -- 

you are "definitely" doing something wrong and should 

regroup, get professional help and try again! 


In fact, if Five Lessons doesn't resolve your swing issue 

then you should definitely revisit our 

13th Hole 

and take another look at DVD #1!

This is particularly true if 

"Back Pain" Is An Issue! 


Invariably players discover that instead of using the 

"Ball & Socket Hip Pivots" 

to guide each turn of the swing, 

the Spine is used as the Central Axis for swing rotation. 

This Is A 

"VERY  SERIOUS  MISTAKE" 

and will cause strain and pain

Why Even The "Best" New Equipment 
Can't Lower Handicaps!


The answer to this paradox is rather straight forward. 

If some how you managed to get the same "exact" pencil Hemingway used to write 

--"The Old Man & The Sea" -- 

would you then produce a similar master work?

Well that's the problem with relying on the latest and greatest golf equipment 

to produce a consistent and repeating swing. 

-- "It's just not likely to happen!"--

 In fact, I still use my "ancient" Ben Hogan Apex Plus Irons to maintain a low handicap, 

and wouldn't change my Hogan 2 Hybrid or Nike Woods for all the tea in China!


"Of course" modern Graphite Heads & Shafts have done wonders for adding length to Drives & Hybrids, but who is going to chase your new very expensive modern golf ball when it's spiraling off line and out of control,

"deeper and deeper" into the woods???

What's particularly exciting about seeing Mr. Hogan perform in the Golf Window 

is that the swing angles he achieves -- at Address & Throughout -- 

are "cubic" in all respects, and the same angles all of us are 

"Naturally Capable Of Producing!" 

Such as Mother Nature would have it, all entities prove to be cubic simply because the power geometry of "Perpendicular Interdependence" 

proves to be highly efficient in all matters of construction 

from the largest of entities to the smallest reflected in atomic form. 

For example, water, sugar, salt, carbon and all forms of energy studied to date are cubic.

Beyond this, the theory of "Cubic Spiral Progression" 

-- born of Healthy Golf Research on Mr. Hogan -- 

not only seems to reflect the circular expansion of the swing, 

but could very well be the mechanism for 

natural growth in all entities as well!

Certainly at this point in research one can only hypothesize, 

but indications are strong that the "cubic science" reflected in Ben Hogan conceals 

much more than meets the eye, and indeed, 

remains quite "hidden" from view!    

Nevertheless, what is clearly visible to all players is that the "Swing Science" in Mr. Hogan 

-- and soon to be found in other distinguished champions -- 

is also to be found in "ALL OF US" and carries excellent promise for our own 

Personal Development As Slice-Free Golfers!

By the way, as part of my research in golf, I am pleased and surprised to learn that toward the end of life,
Dr. Einstein developed a passion for studying -- of all things --

Sooner or Later Questions Arise:
A. Does everyone have their own swing?
B. Is there a "Correct Way" to set up and perform in golf?

This answer to this question is a bit complicated. Certainly, in golf we have "True Fundamentals" and none better than those we find in Mr. Hogan's FIve Lessons. We can also be assured that Mr. Nicklaus in Golf My Way practices fundamentals that would be advocated by: Jones, Sarazen, Nelson, Wright, Player, Trevino, Watson. Annika, 

and so many others too numerous to mention!

 ...In short, "All Champions" believe in learning and practicing "THE"  Fundamentals of Golf, 

but it would be difficult to cite what they "all" might be! 


At the opposite end, some instructors take the view that hitting the ball "square" is the only true fundamental 

with all else depending on Individual Player "Make-Up". 

Frankly, I don't know how this approach works.

Can you imagine, "Flight School" with Fundamentals  based on Pilot "Make-Up!??"  


Anyway, I suppose the best we can do is to learn Classic Fundamentals as best we can 

while allowing flexibility for "Minor Adjustments" that prove to work most of the time. Fact is:  
....if your swing doesn't measure up on a routine basis, 

no one needs to tell you that it's time for a change! 


If that's the case, perhaps a visit with Ben or Jack or Annika or anyone else you like would prove useful.

You might even check a guy who goes by the aka of "DrDom!" 

...Chances are you will find him buried in an old familiar book reading over worn out pages 

checking one thing or another, and still learning more about 

Ben Hogan's, "Modern Fundamentals Of Golf!"

"Home & Range"
What You Do Makes A Difference!

1. One Minute Warm-Up At Home! ...  As you "step out of bed" in the AM, work your "Body Joints" -- Head to Toe -- gently stretching and flexing the surrounding muscles naturally. It takes about a "minute" and you can practice your routine at home "right out of bed!" 

2. When at the Range it's a good idea to use routines generally practiced by Touring Pro's. For example, start with a bit of gentle stretching of your muscles -- top to bottom -- and move to the Short Clubs and Longer Clubs to finish up before heading to a Bunker and Practice Green, where your emphasis should be: 

 Leaving Long Putt "Close" To The Hole and 

"Making" All  The Short Putts! 

3. Please Note. If you enjoy using a Directional Rod when practicing, after a few swings begin to point the rod a bit off line Right and Left focusing on letting your "Back Elbow" move in that direction through impact! 

In short, the feet are really "not" the agent hitting in the swing and it's quite productive to learn how to guide your "Body & Arms Through Impact" 

when the swing has to move a bit to the Right or Left! 

4. The critical point about "Practice" is that the way you practice makes a difference when it's time for you to play! ... Practice will never make you "Perfect" 

but it sure helps when practice shots 

start to become consistent!

In performing routine matters of life, we all rely on "connective mechanics" to get along as we do. Such as it is, no conscious effort is ever required to "think things through" because connective mechanics  are second nature to us.

It's obvious once you think about and have studied Mr. Hogan for as long as I have, 

that he knew more about Human Anatomy & Mechanics than anyone might at first think! 


In fact, when we examine the details of the "Five Lessons" and study its illustrations by Anthony Ravielli 

-- Master of Geometry and former Medical Illustrator of the first rank -- 

what becomes crystal clear is that the manuscript we call "Five Lessons" 

Represents a Masterwork in 

"Golf Science" 

and not simply another Pro's version of what it takes to perform well.


Beyond the extraordinary anatomical detail provided throughout the Lessons, 

Mr. Hogan shares his theory of the Back & Forward Planes, 

truly original in the annals of golf! 

The same holds true for his theory of "Ball Position" illustrated perfectly on P. 125 of a book 

that's not quite 127 Pages!


...Rather short for a "bible" don't you think?


But, the "tip off" regarding the "science" behind the swing of Mr. Hogan 

comes to us loud and clear when he reflects on the future of golf, 

Pages 109 --111. 


"Golf is like medicine and the other fields of science... .   

... just as there will be many new discoveries in medicine 

...we will have similarly refined and extended 

our present day knowledge of golf."

If successful, whenever a project achieves a certain critical stage in its development, 

some "Lesson Principle" tends to emerge lighting "next steps" in future research. 

In the case of "Healthy Golf" we have learned much; 

not least of which is that when observing good quality consistent golf:

Actually, the principle is rather powerful and well reflects the architectural 

"DNA SPIRAL of NATURE" 

3-D in Design. 


As it turns out, the arrangement of all key elements of life 

-- Water, Sugar, Salt, Carbon, Light ----

(and all forms of energy studied to date) 

also prove "cubic" in geometry! 


It is of course interesting that this insight 

happens to bridge the gap between our understanding of 

Organic & Inorganic Chemistry!

 Essentially, the underlying geometry appears to be the same 

even as we thought otherwise for quite some time.


What's most special of all is that this new knowledge emerged from 

a very humble starting point: 

A person simply wanted to improve in golf, and decided that 

"Ben Hogan" 

would be a good model to follow!


I suppose that's how discoveries work in all the sciences. 

Someone tries to solve a problem of interest, 

and ends up solving many problems greater is scope. 


Certainly, other than golf, 

I cannot contribute much in detail relative to any other sciences, 

but hopefully researchers will find my humble contributions in golf 

to be of some value in their continuing research.


Nothing would please me more, and I feel certain 

Mr. Hogan and Mr. Venturi would join with pride

Back in my early days of research 

(1985--90), 

I wanted to check the 

"Angle of Inclination @ Impact" 

of every club in the bag. 


At the time I played a Custom Set of Jack Nicklaus Clubs 

received from a McGregor Sales Rep.

The shafts were "X100" cut 1/4" over standard, 

perfect for me at the time.


In any event, I placed a video camera on the ground 

several feet directly behind the impact area 

and proceeded to measure the 

"Club/Shaft Angle @ Impact!"


To my great surprise, 

every Club/Shaft @ Impact measured exactly at 

"60*!" 

I shared this new knowledge with a friend/owner at 

"Pete's Golf Shop"

who later confirmed the 60* Angle as he measured 

"Perfect Impact" 

for the many customers who purchased 

"Custom Clubs" at his Shop.


Many years later, with the discovery of Mr. Hogan's  

"GOLF WINDOW"

(See Our 13th Hole)

I discovered the Swing Angle from 

Impact to Height at Followthrough was also

"60*!"'

By this time, "Hogan Cube" had long been discovered (1995)

but it was satisfying to confirm that all the data generated by

Sometimes in golf a player discovers a swing "key" and finds this same key in many great players! 

This of course is verification and "proof" that all players and researchers find most satisfying!  


Such is the case with 

Hogan's "Twist"- The Hidden Mechanic in Golf! 

Although "Reverse Roll" of the Back Forearm is 

virtually impossible to detect in the swing of Ben Hogan, 

this is not the case with Jack Nicklaus! 


Mr. Hogan introduces the reverse a bit later that Mr. Nicklaus 

who -- it appears -- does so as part of the Takeaway! 


Interesting that Mr. Nicklaus' "Reverse Flying Elbow" raises the Back Plane more "up" than "around" his body

 (as is the case with Mr. Hogan) 

but both players clearly achieve the "Reverse 45* Semi-Pronation" necessary to achieve 

Consistent Square Impact in the Downswing!

in order to make the last putt on DVD #3? 
The ANSWER IS:

In fact, the entire video was shot is

and believe it or not, this is also the case with

To this day I take great pride in this and have 
"No Doubt" 
I could not accomplish the same today!

Recalling that day of filming at the
Wind Watch Golf Club, 

Long Island, NY
reminds me of a day in 1972 when I was invited by 
Dick Metz, PGA, to play the famed 
"Winged Foot" Club in Weschester, NY. 

At the time I was still on the faculty at 
Columbia Teachers College. 

In any event, on a beautiful Spring day 
we played both the East & West Courses, 
and at the end of day retired to enjoy beverages at the 
"19th Hole". 

Going over the score cards Dick mentioned that I 
"Did Not 3 Putt" 
any of the treacherous Greens at Winged Foot. 
I could not believe it and reviewed all 36 Holes to confirm his recollection. 

...So be it, I hadn't! 

Dick commented that in all of his years at the Club 
he never saw such an accomplishment! 

It didn't take "one second" for me to point out:   
"As far as I was concerned" 
He shouldn't be surprised to discover:
"It Would Never Happen Again!"

Still, both days are very pleasant special memories 
that seemed to happen only 
"YESTERDAY!"

"Eye Dominance" 

Ball Position & General Performance


Soon after I started teaching golf in the late '80, I noticed that 

some students had a distinct tendency to play the ball "back in stance" when playing a Driver, 

no matter the accepted principle that the ball should be played 

"Inside The Forward Heel"

I wondered "why" this seemed to be so and later discovered that 

"EYE DOMINANCE" (Left or Right) 

played a critical role in a player's choice of shot and general performance. 

Unfortunately at the time, there wasn't much attention given to the variable and 

I decided to make "Eye Dominance" an important part of a

Players' Initial Screening/ Diagnosis.

If you have a tendency to play the ball

"Back With Your Driver" or "Middle Of Stance"

Check Your Eye Dominance

"TODAY!"

You Can Do It At Home!

Simply make a "Circle" with your fingers

-- in front of your face -- and

breakdown discussions that can easily overwhelm! 

Trust when I say such scholarship is often "too much" for me to handle 

much less the weekend player whose primary interest is 

having a relaxing, enjoyable day on the course!

How Did Hogan Do It??


Understanding Hogan's Twist is "not" discussed in the Five Lessons, 

it behooves us to ask "HOW" Mr. Hogan know the mechanic would 

naturally occur in his swing. 

Certainly, Page 97 is ample proof the mechanic did occur, 

but what was the "secret" that gave Mr. Hogan confidence 

it would repeat time and time again!


Research Suggests The Following

Page 27 includes Grip Detail that appears nowhere else in golf literature. 


In fact, like Page 97 Mr. Hogan supplies an illustration regarding how the 

Back Pinky does not ride "piggyback" but places in the "groove" 

behind the knuckle of the Lead Index Finger!

**It is only "after" you discover the nature of 

"Hogan's Twist" 

that this simple detail gains significance! 


Such as it appears, 

using the Back Hand to 

"COVER THE  LEFT"

Guarantees  The Occurrence Of Hogan's "TWIST" and, hence, 

no mention of the mechanic seems necessary! 


Nevertheless, Mr. Hogan did state that he had a "secret" and 

-- believe it or not -- 

research finds "no other way" 

for semi-pronation to occur naturally in the Back Forearm!

"Critical Swing Idea" 

only to find they forget the variable almost "instantly" as if were never mentioned! 

You've got to see this behavior to believe your eyes and ears! 

Here are two variables that seem particularly easy to forget! 

 
1. Be sure the Lead Hand Starts Square To Target Line; and
2. Be sure the Lead Foot is flared "Open" 30 Degrees!

These variables are critically important are now referred to as the swing

ONE "CATALYTIC" DRILL  
The Matter Of Hogan's 

"TWIST!"


It's not unusual to find players practicing any number of "drills" to improve their swing. 

Problem is they rarely do and often become habit-forming without ever achieving intended results! 


This is not to say drills have no purpose, but that "individually" few drills can capture the "dynamics" that actually make the swing work! ...How I wish this were different but it's not. 

In golf, as in most things in life, the "whole" is always greater than the sum of its parts!

Therefore, establishing a basic Set-Up Routine can prove quite effective; 

and practicing certain swing ideas can prove more "catalytic" than one might think!

 Take, for example, Hogan's "TWIST!" 

The simple reverse turn of the Back Forearm 45 Degrees in the Backswing 

can solve all manner of problems and 

turn golf into a brand new game!  


This virtual "secret" in the swing proves to help everyone who gives it a try and certainly, you should! 

Most players are incredulous to discover how much this simple mechanic can do 

to resolve chronic issues that have lingered for "years!" 

Hooks and Slices Simply Disappear 

and all manner of swing mishaps tend to resolve 

"on their own!" 

In fact, virtually overnight players gain the sense that golf is a simple game and 

"Practice  Can  Pay  Off  Big!"


In fact, the beauty in Hogan's Twist is that it works

 all the time proving its worth

Hogan's "KEY" Transition

Be Sure To
"READY THE WRISTS!" 


Among the elements that "shift" in preparation for an effective Downswing are the "Wrists!" 

Specifically, at the top of swing before moving forward the Lead Wrist shifts from 

"Concave to Convex" while the Back Wrist reflects a 

"Double 45" 

"Turning The Forearm & Cocking The Back Wrist!" 


This "Double 45" is a natural "connective mechanic" not noticed by the player or observers! 

Nevertheless, its importance is documented by Mr. Hogan. 

Page 45 shows the "Convex Position"  and 

Page 97 shows the 45 "Reverse Roll" of the Back Forearm!

These actions are also visible in the 
GOLF WINDOW Section 6, 
and continuing forward through impact. 

In fact, at impact, 
the Lead Wrist further shifts to the classic 
"Bowed Position" 
shown by Mr. Hogan on Page 102 & 103! 


In short, "Wrist Readiness" is probably the least visible of swing mechanics and

"SLICE  FREE  GUARANTEE!"


All Teachers Agree: 

The dreaded "SLICE SHOT" is caused by an "Open Clubface" moving through impact. 


For right-hand pin shape.layers, if the swing cuts "across" the ball 

the shot moves "Left to Right" as a classic "banana" in shape.  

If the swing sways to the right moving through impact 

the slice moves accordingly, "Right to Right".  


Everyone seems to have a cure for the Slice but 

-- throughout history research demonstrates -- 

methods proposed 

"DO NOT WORK!"


However, the Healthy Golf Swing proves not slice simply because

straighten the club for

it was only until viewed in the GOLF WINDOW that I realized the

Nevertheless, if you draw a BASELINE VERTICAL from Jack's Back Heel at Address,

Elbows & Lower Arms
"BOX 45 DEGREES"
Toward Each Other At Address. 

In the case of Jack Nicklaus and many quality pro's
the Lead Arm appears 
TURNED SQUARE 
while the Back Elbow positions

This is an area where the alert golfer needs to do some

Unless you have what I call 

"Swing Smarts" 

(i.e., knowledge of swing cause and effect) 

you can't execute sound management strategy.


Certainly, most pro's know "what" to do on the course 

-- for example, "put the ball in the fairway" --

but continue to miss too many fairways and greens

because they do "not" have correct technical info 

about swing mechanics and dynamics.


No doubt, this thesis is hard to accept,

but when you see top pro's play a tough course, 

like the 2018 US OPEN now being played at

"Shinnicock"   

it's tough to refute the fact that

"too many shots are missed" 

by even the best pro's!

Has Distance Technology Become 

"Detrimental?" 

Aside from golf courses becoming "too long" for most players

-- even for pro's -- 

is the fact that it's hard to predict "distance control" with modern Irons 

a detriment to getting shots close to the hole? 


For example, a modern Pitching Wedge can carry the ball 

150 yards, 

and if necessary even longer. 

This may sound great but what club should a player select 

for a shot that requires a carry of 

135 or 125 yards?


Can you appreciate the problem?


I used to gauge Iron Selection according to the chart offered by 

Hogan and Nicklaus. 

"5 Iron = 175"

and 10 yard intervals both up and down.

Today I don't know what to select!

JACK NICKLAUS 

The Unanticipated  

-- "VISIT!" --

Shinnecock 1986 


It was Friday at Shinnecock when Jack Nicklaus stepped onto the 

Range at Shinnecock after his 2nd Round.

 

I happened to have a viewing spot on the right side that directly faced Mr. Nicklaus, about 50' away. 

( Some will remember that Jack had  "lost a ball" during the 1st Round and 

perhaps he thought some "extra time" on the Range was in order.)


In any event, from the very first shot, it was evident that 

"something" was terribly wrong! 

Jack could "not" hit a straight shot and the agony on his face was quite visible! 

"STRUGGLING" ...

Jack stopped several Pro's walking by to check his set up and 

even had Jack Grout come out to take a look. 

Meanwhile I was "checking" as best I could until I saw that

"BALL POSITION" 

was too far forward!


 Frantically, I headed for the Range Entrance! 

Walking to Mr. Nicklaus 

a Security Guard hustled in front to stop me. 

I Said:

I'VE GOT TO GET A MESSAGE TO MR. NICKLAUS!

BELIEVE ME "HE WANTS" THE MESSAGE!


Nevertheless, I had to move back. 

Quickly I pulled a Business Card from my pocket and wrote on the back:

"Mr. Nicklaus, your swing is fine. 

Perhaps Ball Position is a bit too far forward."

Walking back to the Guard I begged him to give the card to Mr. Nicklaus.

"He Did!" 

Jack read the card; checked his Ball Position; and 

-- from that moment on --

DID NOT MISS A SHOT!


Leaving the Range 20 minutes later he went to the Putting Green, 

giving autographs all along the way. 

When he finished Putting I had the chance to ask if the card help. He said: 


Were you the guy who passed that card to me? -- I said, "Yes".

He continued, "Actually, I had to move the ball even farther up!"

I responded: "Well, at least I'm glad it helped!"


Based on that comment -- it occurred to me that Jack's "stance" 

was probably "open too much" and the card encouraged him to re-group and

"See The Ball Square!"


The "VISIT" for me was quite special and the lesson was simple.

Sometimes, even the "very best" 

miss a fundamental! 


By the way, to verify the "VISIT" ask Jack!

I'm sure he remembers quite well and I surely will

"NEVER FORGET!"

Back Pain presents in 55% of those who play the game of golf, 

and there are two main causes of the problem. 

The first --bending over too much at Swing Address -- is simple to fix.
Simply stand taller at Address to permit the body to turn in a natural way.


 Not only does this provide immediate relieve to the Upper & Lower Back, but it permits golfers to generate and release much more natural power, regardless of club length!   Next time you watch the Touring Pro's on TV, take a good look and you will find many different styles of swing but all have at least one thing in common:  Players Stand Tall & Tilt the Back  -- from the hip joints -- No More Than "30" Degrees!   


The second cause of Back Pain in Golf is far more insidious. It stems from the long standing belief that the body is able to rotate around its Spinal Axis. 

This "Central Axis Theory" is bogus but has been in golf since the inception of the game. 

Of course, the illusion of spinal rotation continues to this day and not only stresses the Upper & Lower Back, but causes players to miss shots time and time again!  

The uninformed tend to believe that more practice is the solution, 

when the problem stems from the illusion of spinal rotation in the first place!   


Clearly,, doctors know that spinal mechanics won't allow vertebra to rotate sufficient to accommodate a golf swing or any swing for that matter -- and that the "HIP JOINTS" are the hidden underlying pivotal elements that make body turns possible, not only in golf but in all swing sports generally!  Hopefully, this simple discussion informs readers presenting with Back Pain.

to help with Putting!


Years ago I tried the behind the ball method, but being

During the Foley Period of coaching 
Tiger Woods developed a swing pattern leading to
back injuries that not only removed him from the tour but
ultimately to relief and full recovery via 
Spinal Fusion Surgery.

If only one word could describe the
Ben Hogan Swing
that word would be
"UNIFIED!"

In fact, the more you study Mr. Hogan in
"SLOW MOTION"
the more difficult it is to determine
"WHAT MOVES FIRST!"

But beyond that, as you read the
FIVE LESSONS
you soon discover that Mr. Hogan 
"Favored The Word" 
and stated that

That's Golf To Me


For as long as I can remember, I loved golf and always
played with the purpose of improvement and

doing my best on every swing!

I never much enjoyed beating an opponent.  
ln fact, I never enjoyed outdoing the other guy at all. 


To me, achieving my personal best is what 
the game was all about and 
"winning a hole or a match" 
was only good if I could make shots and putts 
when the pressure was on, so to speak. 

With this philosophy serving as my guiding light 
I managed to lower my personal best a number of times 
achieving a low of "68" one day on the 
Red Course at Bethpage.

The best part of the day is that my young son and I made 

"3" New Friends:

The Silverman Brothers and Mike O'Grady, 

playing right behind
our foursome!


-- FYI -- 

I opened with 4 birdies on the first 5 Hole and
had all to do to finish "Under Par" for the first time!
It's worth noting that I missed 
"2" very short birdie putts on the Back 9! 
"Too Much Pressure" 
knowing how well I was playing that day! 
. . .
At any rate, I learned quite a bit studying golf and 
decided one day to teach and study full time.
It was on that day 

"Healthy Golf Game Improvement" 

became my career. 

The rest is history and HealthyGolf.net and

It is remarkable that we have been golfing 
more than 500 years and only recently discovered the 
KEY ANGLE IN THE SWING!

BEING HONEST

I would like to believe that being "honest" is a choice 
that will not fail you in golf or on any other stage in life.


We've not talked about this virtue but it's been a part 
of every Article and every Page of this website.

It's also been of part of all research conducted over five decades. 
Never did it ever occur to me to research or present anything 
for the purpose of 

"marketing or merchandising."

As a result, progress in understanding the swing 
has always proceeded with gusto and with joy and
-- like Mr. Hogan --
I couldn't wait for the next day to pick up the trail
and explore deeper into the swing!

Healthy Golf has helped many, many students along the way;
and at one point help a quality team of college freshmen
earn a bid to the NCAA Tournament at Pebble Beach.

In fact, players of all ages proved over and over 
that the concepts and principles of 
"Healthy Golf"
produce a game worthy of respect and never
put a strain on the body or caused injury.
In fact, the ideas "cured" many players of
Back Ailments & Other Maladies
generally associated with the swing.

I remember well given some rather
"Unconventional Lessons"
that started in the Parking Lot
making further teaching on the Range
"virtually unnecessary!"

That's how "natural" and simple it is to 
learn and perform a
Healthy Golf Swing!


As for golf gadgets and gizmos

none are needed.

Like fads and gimmicks they too

don't last for very long and the sooner

 they are ignored  and disappear the better.

Several Pro's I encountered along the way

I always enjoyed comparing notes on

Which brings us the obvious conclusion

will still be guiding students successfully!

" WHAT'S GOING ON HERE? "
 

I well remember the very first day

I started to become a

GOLF RESEARCHER.


I was by myself out on Clearview Golf Course

-- Queens New York --

practicing my game.


In the middle of the Back 9 I remember 

setting up and hitting the  ball a very long way

-- further than normal for a new player --

and saying to myself:

"THAT WAS GOOD! 

LET ME SEE IF I CAN

DO IT AGAIN?"


Needless to say, on the very same day

with the same clubs and with the

same ball, 

I hit the very next shot

"DEAD FAT"

and the ball traveled a grand total of

"3 FEET!"


I well remember asking myself:

WHAT'S GOING ON HERE???

IT MADE NO SENSE!


To make a very long story short,

soon after I purchased

Ben Hogan's, FIVE LESSONS

and the rest is history.


All research starts with a question that needs an answer.

Who would believe that finding my answer would take:

Sometimes in research, you can't help but feel that 
you are on a road that naturally 
"wants to lead you" 
safely to the end.
On the way there is a lot of dirt, 

 but you must keep following your nose.  


It took a very long time to discover the
HOGAN's "TWIST"  

and even so, it was discovered only because of
" PAGE 97 of FIVE LESSONS!"  
That was the breakthrough and only

a step down the road came the discovery of the 

Grip Secret "45" Diagonal

                       the finding with certainty.

Also,  attempts to reach Tiger went unrewarded.

Hogan Advises: Stance Adjusts To Club Length & FRONT FOOT "Remains Constant @ "45" To Ball!

 Research indicates most players "do not" adjust their "Foot Stance" according to Club Length; 

and generally instructors tend to emphasize the "PARALLEL POSITION!" -- This is a mistake! 


Of course, "9 Time Major Champion" Ben Hogan advises quite differently and takes the time to

document exactly "How You Should Adjust!"
