Not even Ben Hogan 
can teach you to play championship golf!

Of course, his Five Lessons is highly recommended and can teach 

what he has learned, works for him "and" likely works for you too. 

A proper Grip, for example, and how to Adjust Stance for Club Length. 

But you have to work at it and always be on the look out for 

new ideas that make sense!   

That's where this little book hopes to add to your knowledge of the 

human body in golf. 

The Theory Is: 
As we learn more about how the body is built to perform "best" 
we are likely to go with its "Natural Flow" and become better players.

things will work out fine. 

After all, it was Ben Hogan who wrote to me and said about the 

Bi-Axis "Cubic" Swing: 

"I am sure it will be quite successful."

In fact, in addition to Mr. Hogan the website includes other modern champions.  

As it turns out, "all" of them cite the teachings of Ben Hogan and all of them revere his remarkable ability to "repeat" what is arguably the most consistent swing in golf. Based on my own research I can prove that 

Mr. Hogan's Bi-Axis "Cubic" Swing is hard to beat!  

Viewing him in the GOLF WINDOW is proof enough, but that will come later.

For now let's follow our Rule #1 and explore Mr. Hogan's Grip characteristics and illuminate a couple of critical features.

SECTION 1 -- Proper Grip
Hogan Hidden"UNDER POSITION" & Cubic Angles

You might want to check the website for Mr. Hogan's 

"5" Hidden Keys! 

These help to illuminate how to grip a club correctly. 

Incidentally, you will find "many" grips in golf and even those who believe 

the grip is "not" a Fundamental!  

All I can say is research strongly suggests it "definitely is" and 

this idea goes as far back as Harry Vardon! -- You know, the guy who won 

"6" Open Championships and several across the pond here in America 

In short, because players "discover" a non-standard grip that works for them 

doesn't mean the grip is not fundamental to a successful swing. As Mr. Hogan 

points out, until we find another, the Vardon Grip will do just fine, and even 

Mr. Hogan makes a minor "pinky adjustment" to accommodate the 

"45 Degree Cover Function" 

he gives to the Back Hand. 

Clearly, Mr. Hogan's Grip Adjustment is consistent with all you will see in the

SECTION 2 -- Power Stance
Hogan's Invisible 45/20 Degrees!


I still do not understand why Mr. Hogan waited until virtually the last page of his 

Five Lessons to show how Power Stance 

Varies According To "Club Length!"  

Obviously, there must be some hidden logic in Mr. Hogan's decision,

but I surely do not know what it might be.. 

In fact, the crux of the matter it is hidden right in front of our eyes. 


Look at the simple "45/20" involved. 

You can be sure Mr. Hogan knew this, 

but apparently didn't see its larger "cubic" significance. 

Research indicates most players "do not" adjust "Foot Stance" to Club Length; and generally instructors tend to emphasize the "PARALLEL POSITION!" 

-- This is a mistake! 

Mr. Hogan advises quite differently and takes the time to document exactly 

"How You Should Adjust!" 

Study Page 125 of the Five Lessons and you will quickly discover that Mr. Hogan

knows exactly what he is doing!  

Expect your shots to improve "IMMEDIATELY" and both your 

Long & Short Game Index to change dramatically for the better!  

Notice, for all basic shots "Ball Position Remains The Same" Inside the Lead Heel.

For Specialty Shots -- up, down and side hill -- adjust the ball 


perhaps by 1, 2 inches.  

Also, to hit shots a bit Higher or Lower than Normal, 

move the ball a bit Forward or Back.


 It provides the "Bi-Axis" Conceptual Framework to play shots 

    "Fully Forward" or "Fully Back."  

In short, for Special Shots, be a bit flexible regarding ball position

SECTIONS 5 -- "Takeaway" Sets The Pattern 

Mr. Hogan offers the thought sequence: Hands, Arms, Shoulders, Hips. 

But research suggests his Upper Arms & Shoulders were set to move first!  

All else carries logically from there. 

As Mr. Hogan Pointed Out:

Byron Nelson believes 

the whole front side moves as "one piece" to start the swing. 

(You might know that Ben & Byron were competitive friends from childhood!)

Certainly, it's a good idea to put in play whatever method works best for you, 

but be sure to check both of these classic approaches. 

Research suggests a third method whereby the 

Lead Shoulder and Back Elbow 

unify to move simultaneously straight back as one piece. 

Using this method the Shoulders Lead The Way and 

all else follows smoothly to the finish.

This actually takes about 1 Second and no more that a second and a half. 

Certainly, the swing interval is extremely short not allowing much time 

to "fix" things along the way.

This brings us to discussion of what I call the logical imperative of a 

Bi-Axis "Cubic" Golf Swing.  

It virtually "swings itself" in response to a correct Takeaway. 

Even perfect impact and a High Finish seem to occur as if the whole process exemplifies a manifest destiny in golf! 

In short, no active thinking seems necessary once the swing is in motion!

As far as I'm concerned, that's the man in a nutshell. 

He expects the best of himself every step of the way and 

works like the dickens to achieve it in every competitive round.

I witnessed this one Sunday afternoon at the Meadow Brook Club on LI after a 

Senior Event won by George Archer. 

After a full day a Championship Golf, Press Conference, Interviews and doing a 

TV Commercial on the Danger and Precautions associated with "Lightning" -- 

there I was walking down the hill to the Driving Range with Herman & Lee. 

He wanted to hit a few shots before flying out to his next Pro Event. 

(There was no one else on the range -- "no body!") 

Frankly, I was impressed because Lee asked me to hang around until later

when he would have time for me. A humble nobody "research guy" who wanted to see his swing action "up close and personal". 

 By the way, don't ever let anyone  tell you that 

Lee Trevino "hits a fade".

with no apparent change in swing action!

To share just how good he is we have to remember that Lee spent lots of time in "Texas" and got to know Ben Hogan rather well. 

In fact, Lee is the guy Mr. Hogan called on occasion to "test" new clubs being designed at the factory!
